We are a group of citizens concerned about the unbridled real estate and touristic developments in the region of Grândola.
In 2021 we set up Proteger Grândola – Associação de Defesa do Ambiente, an independent non-profit organization.
Why protect Grândola?
The alteration of the PDM (Municipal Development Plan) that permitted the increase in licensing of real estate and touristic projects was pushed through without proper evaluation or consultation of the local population. As a result, adequate integrated planning, respectful of the environment, becomes impossible.
The consequences of rampant and invasive construction are overlooked in the pursuit of unrealistic expectations.
